Skim Insentif Solar Rakyat Sabah | Solar Rebate

Receive a rebate of up to RM4,000 for installing Solar PV system at home

The Solar Rakyat Sabah Incentive Scheme is financial assistance provided by the state government of Sabah through Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) to encourage more domestic consumers to install solar photovoltaic systems at home.

Eligible consumers may receive a rebate of RM1,000 for every kWac of installed solar capacity, capped at RM4,000 for a system size of 4 kWac.

Applications are open from 2026 to 2028, or until the allocated funds have been fully utilised. The scheme targets approximately 1,000 eligible applications from domestic consumers with single phase installations, on a first come, first served basis.

What is kWac? kWac measures the output capacity of a solar system. Your solar contractor can help explain the capacity of the system installed at your home.

 

Who Is Eligible to Apply

You are eligible to apply if:

  • You are an approved Solar Rakyat Sabah consumer.
  • Your home uses a single phase electricity supply.
  • Your solar system has been fully installed.
  • You have received the Solar Rakyat Approval to Operate or SRATO from ECoS.
  • Incentive funds are still available.

Apply Solar Rakyat Sabah Programme And Incentive

You must first complete the following steps:

  1. Appoint a registered solar contractor or Sabah Registered PV Investor (SaRPVI) .
  2. Apply under the Solar Rakyat Sabah programme
  3. Complete the installation of the solar system at your home.
  4. Obtain the Solar Rakyat Approval to Operate (SRATO) from ECoS.
  5. You will receive an eligibility notification by email from ECoS.

Once these steps have been completed, you may submit your incentive application through the designated portal.

 

Required Documents

Prepare copies of the following documents before starting your application:

  • Applicant's identity card.
  • Applicant's bank statement or bank account details.
  • SRATO issued by ECoS.

Make sure all documents are clear, complete and valid to avoid delays during the review process.

 

How to Apply

1  Complete the solar installation
Make sure your solar system has been fully installed under the Solar Rakyat Sabah programme.

2  Obtain approval to operate
ECoS will issue the SRATO once all relevant requirements have been met.

3  Complete the application form
Click the application button and provide all required information.

4  Upload the documents
Upload your identity card, bank account details and SRATO.

5  Submit the application
Check all information before submitting your application. ECoS will assess the application based on eligibility and the remaining available funds.

 

What Happens After You Apply

After the application is submitted:

  • ECoS will review your information and documents.
  • Complete and eligible applications will be approved.
  • A payment voucher will be issued.
  • Payment will be credited directly to the applicant's bank account.
  • The payment slip will be uploaded to the EEISy system and sent to the applicant by email.

Approval is subject to the scheme requirements, complete documentation and the remaining available funds.
