EREEM & EESCO

• EREEM registration to a Company and EESCO related application can be made through web application ECoS Energy Information System (EEISy) https://eeisy.ecos.services/login

Qualifications:

Eligible ECoS Registered Electrical Energy Manager applicant are:

• Malaysian citizen aged 23 years and above who
  1. Holds a certificate of registration as a Professional Engineer under the Registration of Engineers Act 1967 [Act 138] and possesses at least six months working experience in the efficient management of electrical energy at an installation; or
  2. Holds a Degree in Science, Engineering, Architecture or its equivalent and possesses at least one year working experience in the efficient management of electrical energy at an installation; or
  3. Holds a Certificate of Competency issued by the Commission as an Electrical Services Engineer or a Competent Electrical Engineer and possesses at least nine months working experience in the efficient management of electrical energy at an installation; and
• Able to demonstrate knowledge of the requirements of the Enactment and these Regulations that satisfies the Commission.

Without prejudice, ECoS may require any person to attend an interview to be conducted or caused to be conducted by the ECoS to ascertain his qualifications.

Roles:

In general, the EREEM shall have the following functions and duties:

• Audit and analyze the total electrical energy consumption.
• Advise the private installation licensee or consumer in developing and implementing measures to ensure efficient management of electrical energy at the installation
• Monitor effective implementation of the measures proposed.
• Supervise the keeping of records on efficient management and verify its accuracy
• Ensure that the private installation licensee or consumer submits the information and reports within the specified time

Pre-requisites:

Below is the qualification requirements for EESCO

• The applicant has registered his business with either the Registrar of Business or the Registrar of Companies as the case may be;

• The applicant has employed, on a full-time basis, a Registered Electrical Energy Manager as prescribed under the Efficient Management of Electrical Energy Regulations 2024 (EMEER 2024);

• The applicant has access to suitable monitoring and testing equipment and instruments required for energy efficiency management works

• The applicant has satisfactory furnished all the information in the application form.

• The applicant is a Sabah based company with a Sabah address.

• Supply of Energy Efficiency Devices and Equipment
• Consultancy Services
• Contract Works
• Energy Audit
• Design Engineering
• Project Financing
• Management of Energy Performance Contract
• Commissioning and Services
• Operation and Maintenance of Equipment Energy Efficient Installation
• Inspection of Energy Efficiency Improvement Projects

Any person who wishes to become EREEM shall first attend and pass the Energy Manager Training Course (EMTC) at any ECoS Accredited Training Centres.

Any person who passed the EMTC will then be eligible to apply as EREEM. For the application to become EREEM, the online application platform is currently under development.

• The REEM that has practiced as energy manager may apply for EREEM with condition that he has taken courses and passed exam of Electricity Supply Enactment 2024 and Efficient Management of Electrical Energy Regulation 2024 (EMEER 2024).

The Course on Electricity Supply Enactment 2024 and EMEER 2024 (including examination) will be conducted by ECoS with a fee of RM 120/candidate.  To register your interest in joining this course, please email our officer at adzwanshah[@]ecos.gov.my

• The applicant may apply for EREEM with condition that he has taken courses and passed exam of Electricity Supply Enactment 2024 and Efficient Management of Electrical Energy Regulation 2024 (EMEER 2024).

• Without prejudice, ECoS may require the person to attend an interview to be conducted or caused to be conducted by the ECoS to ascertain his qualifications.

• Application review process may take up to 45 days upon completed application submission. 

• 8 hours CDP or 4 training courses related to Energy Efficiency & Conservation.
