Body

RANAU, 3 July - The Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) has taken the initiative to raise awareness about electrical safety and to inform about the performance standards of the electrical supply service through the organisation of a seminar in Ranau today.

This inaugural seminar was officiated by Tinus Manggam, the District Officer of Ranau, and involved 111 community leaders from Kundasang, Karanaan, and Paginatan.

Ridwan Saham, Chief Operating Officer of ECoS, said, "This seminar is expected to increase awareness of electrical safety among consumers, which can directly help reduce the rate of electrical accidents in the state of Sabah.”

"In addition, it is also to ensure that consumers understand the Guaranteed Service Level (GSL), which is the performance standard set by ECoS to ensure the quality of the electrical supply by Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB), and the Minimum Service Level (MSL), which is the minimum performance standard set to measure the efficiency of SESB in providing services to consumers."

The seminar also provided an opportunity for the public to ask questions to address the electrical problems faced by village residents and to propose best practices to improve utility services by SESB.

The initiative, which is set to be carried out across the state, is to increase public awareness about electrical safety and to introduce the roles and responsibilities of ECoS to consumers.
