Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) is established on 10th January 2023 upon the gazettement of the Energy Commission of Sabah Enactment 2023
ECoS is a statutory body of the State Government of Sabah and is the State’s regulator for the energy sector under the Chief Minister portfolio, as the Minister in Charge.
The body aims to deliver secure, sustainable, affordable and accessible energy for the State of Sabah. ECoS’s regulatory scope covers On-Shore Gas Supply and Electricity Supply (including Renewable Energy).
ECoS has taken over the regulatory authority for on-shore gas supply in Sabah after the Gas Supply Enactment 2023 was passed in the State Legislative Assembly on 10th January 2023
ECoS has taken over the regulatory authority for electricity supply and renewable energy in Sabah after the Energy Commission of Sabah Enactment (Amendment) 2024, Electricity Supply Enactment 2024 and Sabah Renewable Energy Enactment 2024 were passed in the State Legislative Assembly on 3rd January 2024.
