99% OF SESB USERS WILL NOT BE AFFECTED BY THE ELECTRICITY TARIFF ADJUSTMENT IMPLEMENTED UNDER THE IMBALANCE COST PASS-THROUGH (ICPT) MECHANISM

Period: 1 July to 31 December 2024

Domestic users:


(a) The ICPT surcharge exemption is maintained for domestic users (DM tariff) with an electric usage of up to 1,500 kWh (≤1,500kWh);


(b) Domestic users (DM tariff) with electric usage exceeding 1,500 kWh (>1,500kWh) will be charged a surcharge at a rate of 4.06 cents/kWh;


Non-domestic users:


(c) The ICPT surcharge exemption is maintained for non-domestic users in the low voltage tariff category consisting of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (PKMS) (CM1 and ID1 tariffs);


(d) The surcharge exemption is also given to non-domestic users consisting of water and sewerage operators in the low voltage tariff category (CM1 dan ID1 tariffs);


(e) Non-domestic users other than those in paragraphs (c) and (d) will be charged a surcharge at a rate of 4.06 cents/kWh.


Based on this adjustment, the targeted subsidy containment requirement from the Federal Government is RM97.77 million to minimise the impact of the ICPT surcharge throughout this implementation period, with an estimated 99% of SESB users not being affected by the electric tariff adjustment for this period.
