BEAUFORT, MARCH 22 – The ECoS Community Service Program, an initiative that positively impacts the community through community projects, infrastructure restoration, and skills development, especially for those affected and in need.
The ECoS Community Service Program has begun with a focus on restoring and repairing internal electrical wiring systems in houses of worship in the Beaufort and Keningau districts from March 22-24, 2025.
This program is also implemented as a response to the impact of the floods that hit these areas, which also affected the safety of electrical wiring in public premises.
This program was implemented collaboratively with the Technical and Trade Training Institute (ILTP), the Sabah State Human Resources Development Department, and Giatmara Keningau, as well as several volunteers.
"Through this program, we aim to restore the electrical wiring system so that it functions safely. In addition, this initiative is also planned to strengthen relationships with the local community through contributions that directly impact their lives," said Datuk Ir. Abdul Nasser Abdul Wahid, Chief Executive Officer of ECoS.
This program was led by the Chief Operating Officer of ECoS, Mr. Ridwan Saham, who completed the electrical wiring repair work at 12 mosques and surau, as well as four churches in the affected areas.
Nasser said, "Prior to the program, our officers who are certified Competent Persons from ECoS conducted a thorough visit to places of worship in both Beaufort and Keningau districts to evaluate the electrical wiring safety aspects. This success was achieved despite several locations being difficult to access due to the recent floods in both districts.”
“The Program Khidmat Budi 2025 is not just about addressing the urgent needs of affected houses of worship, but also provides a valuable practical learning platform for TVET students such as ILTP and Giatmara. We believe this initiative will contribute to the recovery of communities impacted by the floods, while supporting the development of a highly skilled workforce for the future of the country,” he continued.
This program is expected to be a catalyst for community recovery and more sustainable human resource development in the state of Sabah.
Nasser also expressed his deepest gratitude to ILTP, Giatmara Keningau, and the volunteers who participated in this program.
